EatPlayLove is a family-friendly, Thai-Western fusion cafe centered around the theme of arts and craft. A quarter section of the cafe is allocated to the Craft Corner, where little ones can work with a large supply of materials to showcase their artistic talent. It's $5.00 per child for every hour on weekends, and every two hours on weekdays.
With motivational posters adorning its baby blue walls, and rows of photographs strung along the wide glass windows, the cafe gives off a cheery old-fashioned vibe reminiscent of school days.
The Craft Corner has everything a budding young artist needs: from helpful instruction books to colored paper to bottles of glitter, and even a mini sewing machine! It's easy to see how this place is so popular with kids and adults alike.
The food all sounded interesting and it was difficult to make up my mind (as usual). They were served on tableware with homely patterns, which made me feel like I was dining in the comfort of my house.
I went for the Mango Salsa Chicken Burger ($12.50). Although the menu warned that pictures were 'for illustration purposes only', this is one of the few times that there wasn't any difference between what was depicted and what was actually served.
The hot, crispy fries were the perfect companion to the toasty warm buns and grilled chicken, topped with warm cubes of mango and Thai chili sauce. The sweet-and-sour flavor was brought out further by the garlic spread applied to the buns, though it was still too mellow for my liking. Coupled with the fact that the mango was mostly tasteless and didn't do much except look pretty, my opinion of this dish wasn't as high as it could have been. Shame, really.
The Chicken Noodle Soup ($8.00) was a hit. The soup was clear and light, with a mix of pepper and chicken gently lingering on the tongue with each mouthful. Despite containing plain ingredients like flat white noodles and grated carrots, the simplicity and taste of the food won me over.
Hot Nutella Chocolate ($5.50) is presented with tiny marshmallows, drizzled lightly with Nutella, resting on a pillow of froth. The drink is as tasty as it looks and sounds. The chocolatey and nutty flavors blended well to give rise to a symphony of scrumptiousness. Love it!
I was disappointed by the Plain Waffle ($5.00), served with a choice of syrup, honey, caramel or chocolate sauce. No topping can disguise the hideously insipid taste of a lukewarm waffle, and that's what it was: a too-soft, sad mess of batter on a pretty plate.
To conclude, EatPlayLove offers a unique experience to the young at heart, so do check it out!
