Reached before 12pm and there was already a queue. Thankfully it wasn't a long wait; the service crew showed us to our table within 15 minutes.
Decked out in warm hues of rosy brown and creamy white, the décor was stylish and appealing.
The café's chicness was further enhanced by pretty flowers.
Strangers' Reunion offers Magic coffee ($5.50), a cuppa advertised as having a 'magical ratio of coffee to milk'. Too bad the only unique thing about it is its name - I found it rather bland.
The highlight of the day would have to be the Buttermilk Waffle with Vanilla Bean ice Cream & Fresh Fruits ($12.90). I liked how the texture was crispy and firm on the outside, and soft and fluffy on the inside. There was also a strong scent of buttermilk present throughout. The fruits and ice cream married well with the waffle. Truly enjoyable!
The waffle was so excellent in fact, that a second helping was inevitable. Decided to try the one with Homemade Berry Compote & Vanilla Bean Ice Cream ($14.90) this time around. The ice cream was dyed a gorgeous red by the syrup. Unsurprisingly, this waffle was sweeter and the tart berries only intensified the sensation.
Fluffy Savoury Crepes ($12.50, add-on fillings range from $3 to $4.50) were light on the palate and really yummy. Rolled up with smoked salmon and cheese, they were simply divine.
The Parma Ham Benedict ($19.90) was two poached eggs lovingly paired with toast and thin slices of cured prosciutto. While good enough, there was nothing special about it so it didn't score highly on my list. Next!
Now that's what I'm talking about! The Truffle Fries ($12.90), served with a large helping of grated truffle and truffle aioli, were fantastic and every single one was gobbled down. But the enticing dip stole the spotlight with a taste similar to a blend of mayonnaise and sour cream.
While Strangers' Reunion isn't the best café in town, there is no doubt that their waffles make up for it.
