The place shows off its Paris-influenced concept with the Eiffel Tower design.
I started dinner with the Baked Escargots ($8.80) appetizer. Unsurprisingly, this dish is very hot and the escargots appear as little bubbling pools, so do let it cool down for a minute or so before tucking in to avoid burning your tongue.
Each escargot comes immersed in its own mixture of melted cheese, tomato and garlic butter, and this gives it a tangy kick. The garlic taste was disappointing though as it was milder than what I had expected.
The must-try dish would be their Rotisserie Poulét Roti ($15.80 for half, $28.80 for whole). The presentation is gorgeous; the roasted chicken, with its beautifully browned skin, lies in a shallow pool of mushroom chardonnay sauce on a fair embossed plate, surrounded by thinly-sliced mushrooms and a couple of scattered greens.
Marinated and cooked to near-perfection, the chicken is tender, moist and flavorful, though it was a little overdone on the saltiness. I busied myself slathering the sauce on each cut of meat before eating; each forkful was worth savoring because the sauce and chicken complemented each other well. Furthermore, there was no dreaded 'meaty' aftertaste.
In conclusion, look no further when considering a French-themed, chicken-fixated restaurant; Poulet's the place to head to.
