This heartland cafe opened with little fanfare and I was skeptical of its survival at first, but it has proven me wrong.
No main courses or fancy desserts are served here. Beans&Cream relies on ice cream, drinks and the more substantial waffles to satisfy their customers.
Ambience/Decor
6 tables and 12 seats are settled in air-con comfort - an abysmally squished arrangement, so no eyebrows are raised when the crowd spills out into the open almost every weekend.
Curtains are drawn over the neat, immaculate kitchen at the back, away from prying eyes.

Ambience/Decor
It comes equipped with a neighborly spirit that has a charm of its own.

Service
The friendly crew repeated our orders but were not intuitive enough; when they served our fare, only one cutlery set was provided.
Food
The creamy Mao Shan Wang ice cream ($3.00 per scoop, $5.00 for double scoops, and an additional 80 cents for Premium flavors) left an impressionable durian flavor in the mouth, which dissipated quickly.
Foam atop the Cappuccino ($4.00) wasn't too thick and can be scooped easily. I appreciated the simplicity of the latte art (look at its matching picture!) Light in acidity and bitterness, the coffee took it easy on the taste buds.
At long last, I got to try their Waffles with Ice Cream ($6.50) and zoomed in on the Earl Grey. The ice cream was full of milky sweetness, tasting very much like milk tea. Just like the Mao Shan Wang, the taste did not last long on the tongue.
Fluffy on the inside and pleasantly crispy on the outside, the waffles were fragrant and airy. Although they absorbed the melting ice cream quickly, they remained solid instead of disintegrating into a soft mess. Dark chocolate sauce and honey made beautiful companions to the waffles, adding extra sweetness in two different flavors.
Overall
Where else can you find a cafe that makes the plainest of desserts so good? None other than Beans&Cream, who adhere strictly to their motto of catering to "the simplest cravings in life".
The Latte ($4.00) was more dilute. It does look cute though.
